IMSUBEB Kickstarts Computer-Based Test To Recruit Best Qualified Teachers

Primary Schools in Imo State will soon attract best-qualified teachers. 

Only recently, the Imo State Governor, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma lifted the embargo on recruitments when he approved for employment 6000 Community Based Teachers and mandated IMSUBEB to accept applications from qualified applicants. 

Governor Uzodimma had insisted that due process must be strictly followed in the employment process.

The Executive Chairman of IMSUBEB Her Excellency Lady Dr Ada OKwuonu explained that Governor Hope Uzodinma places a high premium on learning and wants the best for Imo children. 

On the Computer Based Test, Dr Okwuonu added that the exercise is necessary in this age of digitalization and information technology. She disclosed that more attention will be placed on the deployment of teachers to rural areas where there are noticeable deficits in the number of teachers.

Dr Ada OKwuonu who visited most of the centres expressed her happiness that the exercise is going very well but frowned at incidents where some candidates violated their exam time slots and advised them to keep to the time given to them for the smooth running of the exercise.

The IMSUBEB Chairman stated that age, qualification and scaling through the CBT exams are some of the templates for employment.

According to the Executive Chairman "Everybody who has followed the due process of applying and was given a number and time must be allowed to take the exam and the results will be published according to their Local Governments"

The Board Secretary Hon. Chief Chidiebere Egboh while speaking during the exercise stated that the Computer Based Test (CBT) was long adopted by the Board as a way of getting the best teachers especially those with knowledge of basic computer and other technological applications. He thanked the Governor for the 1800 Tablets that were distributed to schools in Imo State.

The Director of the Social Mobilization Department of IMSUBEB, Dr Mrs Cecilia Egeonu who is also the Coordinator of the Unique Computer Center commended His Excellency Distinguish Senator Hope Uzodinma and Her Excellency Lady Dr Ada OKwuonu for their efforts to bring smiles to Imo children by conducting this recruitment exercise.

Candidates interviewed in some of the CBT Centers expressed their profound gratitude to Governor Hope Uzodinma for his concern and love toward education and efforts to equip IMSUBEB for the recruitment of knowledgeable and trained teachers to enhance the education sector.

Okoro Peace, Okorie Johnson, Precious Uzo and Mrs Edith Uche on behalf of other candidates commended the Executive Chairman for her tireless efforts to see to the success of the program.
