The Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma have called on the leaders and people of Owerri zone to key into the Imo Charter of Equity to ensure equitable sharing of power amongst the various zones of the state.

Governor Hope Uzodimma made the call at the country home of former Secretary to the Imo State Government, Sir Jude Ejiogu on Sunday.

Sir Jude Ejiogu celebrated his birthday party and had the governor and other dignitaries from all over the state in attendance.

Addressing the mammoth crowd at Sir Jude Ejiogu's Emekuku residence, Uzodimma pointed out that other states in the South East has one form of equity arrangement or the other except Imo State.

"The Charter of Equity will work, it does not matter the number of aspirants, aspirant is an aspiration."

Speaking further, Uzodimma stated, "When you go to Abia State, all the parties take their candidates from that zone that it is their turn. Go to Anambra it is the same thing, go to Enugu, go to Ebonyi it is the same thing. But in Imo we see ike kete orie, survival of the fittest. If I am a bad person, I will support survival of the fittest because I can grab it.

Uzodimma urged the leaders of Owerri to come together and buy into the Charter of Equity which he insists, is the surest way for peace and unity to grow in the state.

The event appears to be the first place Uzodimma would publicly make that call to Owerri leaders to back the call for Equity in the state.
